Il SATURN is a driver board with over-boost designed especially to pilot linear voice-coil micro motors.

Thanks to the support offered by SATURN, the use of voice-coil units is simplified with reduction in development times and consequent improvement in the piloting precision of the micro motor.

SATURN has 6 inputs of which 3 are combined with control signals (voice-coil disabling and management of position sensors), while the other 3 can be combined with the output with functions that can be programmed by the user via serial port (RS232) and compatible with IBM PC with Windows™ 95 or superior operating system and with SATURN-Com software supplied free of charge by Emmeci Elettronica.

It is very simple to program the functions that bind the outputs to the inputs without having to be experts in specific programming languages.

The built-in DC/DC converter offers the advantage of being able to power SATURN with just the 24Vdc voltage normally already available in the cabinet where the board is to be installed.

A built-in self-diagnosis system checks for anomalies on the loads connected, on the end-of-stroke sensors or feasible overheating of the micro motor, thus making the SATURN + VOICE-COIL assembly particularly resistant to most events that normally destroy other boards.

SATURN is suitable for piloting all voice-coils of series Gxx-01-xx. The SATURN-Com software can be used to set the model of voice-coil and all the operating parameters (over-boost time, position holding current, control of end-of-stroke sensors etc.).

There is also a function that allows you to easily set the combination of inputs that activate/de-activate the voice-coil, with possibility to activate logic functions such as AND-OR etc.

SATURN is now also available in the SATURN/PLUS version, which includes all the functions of the standard version, plus a complete diagnosis system that displays the performance of the SATURN/VOICE-COIL unit on the PC; this proves extremely useful for commissioning the system correctly. This diagnosis function works very clearly, without affecting the switching time of the voice-coil in any way. It can therefore be used without limits also while the line where the voice-coil is installed is running, so that you can check not only the performance in terms of speed, but you can also highlight any vibrations in the mechanical system or fluctuations in the activation times.

The new version of the programming software SATURN-COM has a function used to manage the performance display of SATURN/PLUS.

Unlike other systems, the SATURN driver offers many advantages:


It is easy to install: all it needs to be able to work is a power supply voltage of 24Vdc, thanks to the built-in converter that generates the over-boost voltage required to ensure maximum performance of the VOICE-COIL in terms of speed.


It safeguards the actuators: the over-boost pulse has a duration of just a few milliseconds, consequently any conditions that could damage the VOICE-COIL are avoided.


Possibility to program the duration of the over-boost pulse, of the activation time of the output and the functions connected to the activation of the output (combination and number of the inputs, holding currents etc.). Conditions that point out anomalies, both electrical (overloads, interruptions and overheating) and mechanical (failed completion of the stroke of the VOICE-COIL) can also be programmed.


It is simple to commission, to install and to check its operating efficiency, thanks to the use of the free SATURN-COM software for systems with Windows™95 or superior operating system.
